On 28 January 2025. H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, together with  Mr. Niwat Apichartbutra, Commercial Attaché, Office of Commercial Affairs in Cairo, met with Mr. Mohammed Youssef, Executive Director of the Egyptian Businessmen’s Council (EBA), and Mr. Mohammed S. Fabry, Chief Executive Officer of United Bros. and the new Chairman of the Egyptian-Thai Business Council, at the EBA premises. The Meeting discussed the opportunities to enhance trade and investment as well as the promotion of people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.

The Ambassador underscored the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Joint Trade Committee and areas of cooperation which are in the interest of both sides. Thai side is interested such as food production and processed food, tourism, film, and capacity building. Egyptian side is interested such as hotel and hospitality, spas, and medical tourism. Moreover, both sides agreed that the direct flight between Bangkok and Cairo should be resumed and the importance of meetings and exchange of visits between the Thailand-Egypt Business Council and the Egyptian-Thai Business Council.
