On 20 September 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with the Egyptian Muay Thai Association (EMTA), organized “Muay Thai Egypt Cup 2019” at Cairo Stadium Hall No. 4.

This year competition consisted of both professional and amateur matches in which 26 boxers competed in various weigh categories. The event was attended by Ambassadors, members of diplomatic corps, representative from Ministry of Youth and Sport as well as enthusiastic fans in Egypt. This annual competition is the third Muay Thai competition which the Embassy organized this year, following two successful events in Port Said and Sharm el Sheikh in February and August respectively. It is also part of the Embassy’s ardent effort to promote this Thai national sport to become even more popular in Egypt.
