On 11 February 2025, Mr. Thanabordee Joothong, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. together with Ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) attended the Brown Bag Session on ASEAN at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. There were over 120 attendees including the Dean of the Faculty, academic staff, and students. The Ambassador-designate of Malaysia as the Chair of ACC gave a briefing on the history and current roles of ASEAN. Afterwards, the Ambassadors and CDA exchanged views with the students regarding the situations in the region such as the South China Sea, Myanmar, the impacts of the Trump administration on ASEAN, economic and educational cooperation, as well as on how ASEAN’s successes in promoting peace and prosperity can be a lesson to other regions. The Brown Bag Session on ASEAN is an initiative of the Royal Thai Embassy, held for the fifth time since 2023, with the aim of promoting awareness about ASEAN in Egypt.
