On 3 June 2024, Hon. Mr. Sukarno Matha, President, and members of the Thailand-Egypt Parliamentarians Friendship Group, paid a courtesy call and met with Dr. Nora Ali, Head of the Friendship Group of the Egyptian Parliament and Chief of Tourism and Aviation, at the New Parliament in the New Administrative Capital. The Thai side expressed their appreciation to the Egypt side for taking good care of Thai students who study at Al-Azhar University as well as for scholarships given to Thai students in both Islamic and secular studies. In addition, Hon. Mr. Sukarno commended Egypt as a leading example of multicultural society and expressed interest in learning about the development of transportation routes from Egypt, particularly the Suez Canal.

On this occasion, Dr. Nora welcomed the Thai delegation, which is considered to be the first foreign delegation to be officially received at the New Parliament, and expressed satisfaction that a renowned Thai garment company will set up a manufacturing factory in Egypt in the near future. Furthermore, both sides stressed the strong and amicable ties throughout 70 years of relations and agreed to strengthen cooperation in tourism and culture, emphasising the importance of resuming direct flights between Bangkok and Cairo.
