On 2 June 2024, Hon. Mr. Sukarno Matha, President, and members of the Thailand-Egypt Parliamentarians Friendship Group, met with Dr. Salama Gomaa Daoud, President of Al-Azhar University, at the Office of the President, during their official visit to Egypt from 30 May – 4 June 2024.  Both sides discussed on issues concerning Thai students in Egypt, such as admission of secular studies, accreditation process, and cooperation on Arabic language training in Thailand.

On this occasion, the Thai side also expressed their appreciation to the Grand Imam and Al-Azhar University for the scholarships given to Thai student and for taking good care of Thai students.
