The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah, Egypt’s institution for Islamic religious interpretation, organized a training program for Thai students in Egypt from 11–15 October 2026 at Dar al-Ifta headquarter with a focus on the approaches, principles, and methodologies of issuing Islamic legal opinions (fatwa), as well as the application of Islamic principles to contemporary social issues. The program aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the fatwa process, principles of Islamic jurisprudence, the objectives of Islamic law, and approaches to considering social issues in diverse contexts.

The training provided participants with an opportunity to learn directly from scholars and experts of Dar al-Ifta, exchange views, and gain insight into practical working processes. This enabled the students to connect theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom with its practical application in real-life situations, while also strengthening their analytical skills, contextual understanding, and ability to provide appropriate guidance on contemporary religious and social issues. The program also helped prepare Thai students to apply the knowledge and perspectives gained from the training in the context of Thai society, particularly given its multicultural character.
