On 22 – 23 September 2025, Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, together with Egyptian Muay Thai Federation, organised “Muay Thai Training Project” at Olympic Center for Training National Teams, by inviting Muay Thai trainers from Lanna Fighting Muay Thai Camp, led by Mr. Wittawat Kasom or Kru Din, to train and demonstrate Muay Thai. The objectives were to conduct traditional and standard Muay Thai training for Egyptian Muay Thai athletes and interested people and to promote Muay Thai as soft power of Thailand. The training was attended by over 200 Egyptian muaythai athletes, trainers and interested people.

On the occasion, His Excellency Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand, visited Muay Thai Training Session and met with Egyptian muaythai athletes. Ambassador Thanawat commended Egyptian national muaythai athletes who won medals from 2025 IFMA Youth World Championship during 10 – 20 September 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Ambassador also reiterated the importance of Muay Thai and future project planning to support the activity of the federation to further promote Muay Thai in Egypt.

This year’s Muay Thai activity is a continuation of last year’s activity to promote Muay Thai in Egypt on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Thai – Egyptian diplomatic relations in September 2024. Kru Din, who conduct training last year, observed and saw improvement of Egyptian Muay Thai athletes and believed that they have great potential for further improvement. Also, Muay Thai became more popular among Egyptian martial artists. Therefore, the Embassy plans to organize another project next year in other provinces.
