On 29 August 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy led the Egyptian delegation to attend the opening ceremony of World HAPEX Thailand 2024 at the International Convention Center (ICC) Hat Yai, Prince of Songkla University. Participants included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, halal experts and representatives from various countries such as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Egypt, as well as high-level representatives from relevant Thai agencies.

The World HAPEX is an annual international conference and expo held in Southern Thailand, recognised by the Thai Government for its potential to drive economic growth. The event focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of halal businesses within Thai Muslim communities. The World HAPEX 2024 is organised by the Hala Institute. This year’s theme is “Halal Tourism, Hospitality, and Wellness,” highlighting a range of halal businesses and services. The event aims to position Thailand as a key halal tourism and wellness hub in the ASEAN region.
