The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo organized an Egyptian business delegation to visit Thailand from 29 September to 1 October 2025. The delegation included Mr. Mohamed Sabry, President of the Egyptian-Thai Business Council, Mr. Hamada Abdelsamad, Undersecretary at the General Authority of Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), and six other Egyptian business representatives. On 29 September 2025, the group met with Mrs. Vibeke Lyssand Leivag, Advisor to the Board of Trade of Thailand and Chairwoman of the Joint Foreign Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, as well as members of the Thai Chamber of Commerce from sectors such as processed food, beverages, rubber, hotels, construction materials, and SMEs. The delegation also made a courtesy call on Mr. Chai Arunanondchai, President of the Tourism Council of Thailand, along with executives from the Thai Startup Association. Additionally, they participated in the ATTA Travel Mart MICE and Leisure 2025 event and held discussions with Mr. Wit Kitchathorn, Marketing and Customer Director at Thai Airways International plc.
The aim of this project is to promote trade, investment, and tourism between Thailand and Egypt. Both parties shared information and discussed business opportunities and government policies to support private sector in trade and investment. Participants also acknowledged potential for further economic cooperation between the two countries. Egypt can serve as a trade and investment gateway for Thailand to Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, while Thailand may serve as a trade and investment gateway to ASEAN.
