During 4-13 September 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo organized a Muay Thai Familiarization trip in Thailand for leading Egyptian sports clubs, namely Heliopolis Sporting Club, Zamalek Sporting Club, Wadi Degla and El Shams club, in order to push for Muay Thai introduction in their respective club.

During the visit, the delegation attended the briefing by Sport Authority of Thailand (SAT) and International Federation of Muay Thai Amateur (IFMA) about Muay Thai rules and regulations as well as the steps taken by Thai Government to push for the inclusion of Muay Thai in the Olympic Games. The delegation also visited various Muay Thai camps as well as attended a number of Muay Thai competitions so as to experience first-hand the popularity of Muay Thai. Moreover, the delegation also attended the briefing by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) about “Sport Tourism in Thailand” during the trip.
