The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with Egyptian Chefs Association (ECA), organized a Thai cooking demonstration at Sala Thai Restaurant, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Sharm el Sheikh on 25th July 2018. It is the third event of “Thai Cooking Demo Series 2018” which Thai Embassy plans to organize in various cities in Egypt in order to promote Thai cuisine throughout the country.

At the event, Thai Chefs from Sala Thai Restaurant demonstrated how to cook 5 Thai dishes, namely Chor Muang (Stuffed flower chicken dumpling), Goong Hom Sabai ( Prawn spring roll), Massaman Gai (Chicken massaman curry), Pla Rad Num Pla (Fried fish with fish sauce) and Thong Yib (Flower egg yolk tart). Twenty Egyptian Chefs, most of which are Executive Chefs from leading restaurants in Sharm el Sheikh, attended the demonstration. They were excited to learn Thai cooking technique and particularly impressed with the making of Chor Muang and Thong Yib, two beautiful Thai appetizer and dessert that require both delicacy and skill in the cooking.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo continuously promotes Thai cuisine through several activities in accordance with the Royal Thai Government’s “Thai Kitchen of the World” initiative. Apart from cooking demonstrations and workshops, last year the Embassy organized Thai cooking competition among young Egyptian Chefs, which helped increase Thai food’s popularity among circle of Egyptian Chefs.
