Thai Embassy kicks off “Thai Cooking Demo 2018” in Egypt

The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with Egyptian Chefs Association (ECA), kicked off the first Thai Cooking Demonstration in Egypt this year at Ruen Thai Restaurant, Dusit Thani Lakeview Hotel, Cairo on 26th June 2018. The event is part of “Thai Cooking Demo Series 2018” which Thai Embassy plans to organize cooking demonstrations in various cities in Egypt in order to promote Thai cuisine throughout the country.

At the event, Chef Thongbai Tathong from Ruen Thai Restaurant demonstrated how to cook tasty Thai dishes including Yum Nuea (Beef Salad), Gaeng Pad Kai (Red Curry Chicken), Kanom Dok Jok (Crispy Lotus Cookies) as well as how to make sticky rice in a traditional way. About 40 guests who attended the demonstration including spouse of ASEAN Ambassadors and diplomats, Egyptian government officials, famous food bloggers and journalists also had a chance to cook their own dishes and enjoyed their food tasting afterwards.    

The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo continuously promotes Thai cuisine through several activities in accordance with the Royal Thai Government’s “Thai Kitchen of the World” initiative. Apart from cooking demonstrations and workshops, last year the Embassy organized Thai cooking competition among young Egyptian Chefs, which helped increase Thai food’s popularity among circle of Egyptian Chefs.
