Thai Cooking Competition in Egypt between 11-12 July 2017

The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with the Egyptian Chefs Association (ECA), organized Thai Cooking Competition in Egypt between 11-12 July 2017 at Monappetit Kitchen, 6th October City in order to promote Thai cuisine in Egypt.

Nine professional Egyptian chefs participating in the competition had showed their skills by cooking famous Thai dishes such as Tom Kha Kai (Chicken Galangal Soup), Pad Thai Goong Sod (Thai Fried Noodle with Prawns), Gaeng Khiao Wan Kai (Thai Green Curry Chicken) and Tom Yum Seafood. After two days of competition, Ms. Norhan Essam Mohamed was selected as the best chef by the juries which comprised four distinguished chefs and culinary experts. Following the competition, Ms.Thongbai Tathong from Ruen Thai Restaurant (Dusit Thani LakeView) and Mr. Koraveet Yarangvong from Mirai Restaurant, who both served as the jury, also made Thai cooking demonstration to all guests and participants.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo promotes Thai cuisine through several activities in accordance with the Royal Thai Government’s “Thai Kitchen of the World” initiative. Apart from this competition, the Royal Thai Embassy has organized various cooking workshops and demonstration in Egypt throughout the year.
