Egyptian Muay Thai boxers participated in World Wai Kru Muay Thai Festival and competed in boxing match in Thailand

During 14-23 March 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo organized a trip for Egyptian Muay Thai players, trainers and journalists to visit Thailand to participate in various activities in order to promote Muay Thai in Egypt.

During the visit, Egyptian Muay Thai players and trainers had an opportunity to train in the established Muay Thai camp in Bangkok to improve their Muay Thai skills. Furthermore, the group also participated in 13th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony in the old capital city of Ayutthaya which drew over 1,400 foreign Muay Thai players from 62 countries. The group also visited Rajdamnoen Stadium, the oldest and most prestigious boxing stadium in Thailand, as well as other attractions in Bangkok which would help promoting tourism in Thailand.

Moreover, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo also organized for one of the boxers, Mr. Alaaelden Abdo Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed, to fight in the boxing match in Thailand at Muay Thai Live competition at Asiatique the Riverfront. Mr. Alaaelden eventually won the match by unanimous decision over the Algerian boxer Waris Luk Mahatat. His participation will serves as an inspiration for Egyptian youths to start learning Muay Thai.
