On 8 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, chaired the 284^th ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) Heads of Missions Meeting at the Sheraton Cairo Hotel, hosted by the Embassy of Viet Nam. The meeting discussed activities to raise awareness of ASEAN in Egypt and ASEAN-Egypt relations for 2026 at the government, private sector, and people-to-people levels, encompassing political, economic, sports, and cultural aspects. The committee has organized two events so far this year: a Joint Iftar during Ramadan and a Lunch Talk featuring Ambassador Amr Hamza, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs. Thailand reported on the progress of preparations for the 7^th ASEAN Lecture, a collaborative effort with leading Egyptian universities, an initiative started by Thailand in 2023. Furthermore, the meeting exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations with Egypt and best practices on consular affairs.
