On 3 February 2026, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, chaired the 283^rd ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) Heads of Missions Meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence, hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy. The meeting discussed activities to raise awareness of ASEAN in Egypt and ASEAN-Egypt relations for 2026 at the government, private sector, and people-to-people levels, encompassing political, economic, sports, and cultural aspects. Thailand reported on the progress of preparations for the 7^th ASEAN Lecture, a collaborative effort with leading Egyptian universities, an initiative started by Thailand in 2023. Furthermore, the meeting exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations with Egypt and best practices on consular affairs. The Committee also welcomed H.E. Mr. Kuncoro Giri Waseso, the Indonesian Ambassador-designate to Egypt, who assumed office on 29 January 2026.
