On 20 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Arab Republic of Egypt attended the 281st ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) Meeting at the Fairmont Nile City Hotel. The meeting was chaired by the Myanmar Ambassador, as the current ACC Chair, and hosted by the Royal Embassy of Cambodia. The meeting reviewed the results of six activities to promote ASEAN awareness in Egypt in 2025 and discussed potential activities for 2026 at both the public and people-to-people levels. The Chair expressed appreciation to Thailand for coordinating the 5th and 6th ASEAN Lectures this year with Cairo University and October 6 University respectively. The activities, previously referred to as Brown Bag Sessions on ASEAN, have been organized by Thailand since 2023. In addition, H.E. Ambassador Thanawat proposed increasing participation of the media and the private sector in ACC activities in the coming year to further strengthen awareness and networks between ASEAN and Egypt.
