On 30 June 2025, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, attended the 279th ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) Meeting at the Embassy of the Philippines, chaired by Ambassador of Malaysia, as Chair of the ACC. The Meeting discussed activities to promote ASEAN relations and visibility in Egypt in 2025 at the governmental and people-to-people levels, including the 6th ASEAN Lecture in September this year, which was initiated by Thailand. At this meeting, Myanmar took over the ACC Chairmanship for the second half of 2025 from Malaysia.
