On 15 February 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with the Egyptian Muay Thai Association (EMTA), organized Muay Thai competition at Style Square Indoor Hall in Port Said. The event organized 43 matches of boxing in which 78 Muay Thai boxers in Egypt consisting of 54 children and youths and 24 adult boxers participated.

The competition is the first Muay Thai event organized by the Royal Thai Embassy this year following three successful and well-attended events in Ismailia, Alexandria and Cairo last year. The Thai Embassy aims to make Muay Thai better known throughout Egypt as well as among children and youths, many of whom recently started to learn and enjoy practicing the sport.
