On 20 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, Mrs. Tipsuda Sirikul, his spouse, and Team Thailand attended the ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony. This event marked ASEAN Day 2025 and was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo. The Ambassador of Indonesia, as host, and the Ambassador of Myanmar, as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC), gave remarks. They highlighted the long-standing friendship and solidarity among ASEAN member countries, which has contributed to regional peace and prosperity over the 58 years since ASEAN's establishment. They also emphasized the important role of the ACC in promoting understanding and strengthening relations between ASEAN and Egypt. High-level officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt also joined the event this year. After the ceremony, attendees enjoyed traditional foods from each country, following customs. On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy presented a selection of traditional dishes, including grilled chicken with sticky rice, shrimp cakes, and mango with sweet sticky rice, to promote Thailand's culinary heritage in Egypt.
