On 18 July 2024, Ms. Thanavon Pamaranon, Chargé d'affaires a.i., attended the 271st ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) Heads of Mission Meeting, chaired by Indonesia. The Meeting discussed the ACC Annual Activities to raise awareness about ASEAN in Egypt to be held in the rest of 2024 and agreed on Thailand’s proposal to organize two Brown Bag Sessions on ASEAN with Badr University in Cairo (BUC) and the American University in Cairo (AUC) respectively in September this year. Furthermore, the Chargé d'affaires a.i. exchanged information with the meeting regarding important visits and activities of the Thai side, including the visit to Egypt of Thailand-Egypt Parliamentarians Friendship Group, the visit of the Egyptian Business delegation to Thailand, the visit of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar to Thailand, and the visit of the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

On this occasion, the ACC chairmanship is also handed over from Indonesia to Singapore who will assume the chairmanship role from August 2024 – January 2025.
