Announcement: New Procedure for Submitting Thai Visa and Legalization Application in Sudan and Djibouti from 28 May 2021 onwards

In accordance with the new “Regulation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Governing the Appointment and Function of Honorary Consular Officers of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2563 (2020)” which will become effective from 28 May 2021 onwards, all the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate around the world, including in Sudan and Djibouti, respectively, will no longer be authorized to issue Thai visas and provide legalization services.

Therefore, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo will provide visa and legalization services for applicants in Sudan and Djibouti, respectively. Below are the new guidelines for lodging Thai visa and legalization application:

1. Screening Process:

Applicants shall submit visa and legalization application for screening at the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Khartoum and Djibouti.

2. Delivery Process:

2.1 All applications together with passports and required documentsbsubmitted by applicants will be delivered to the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo by a courier or through a representative who is authorized by an applicant.

2.2 Passports with visas/legalized documents will be returned to the address of an applicant by courier or through representative who is authorized by an applicant;

3. Visa/Legalization fee:

3.1 Visa fee:
Transit Visa                                        600 EGP
Tourist Visa (Single Entry)                   700 EGP
Special Tourist Visa (STV)                    1,300 EGP
Non-Immigrant Visa (Single Entry)       1,300 EGP

3.2 Legalization fee

Each stamp                                         120 EGP

4. Payment for visa and legalization fee:

Applicants shall make payment for visa and legalization fee through a courier or through a representative who is authorized by an applicant;

5. Expenses for courier or representative/authorized person:

All expenses related to courier services for sending and returning between Sudan/ Djibouti and Cairo or representative/authorized person of applicant; shall be borne by applicants;

6. Additional documents if requested:

If additional documents are requested by the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, applicants may be able to submit documents through email: [email protected]; (on case by case basis)

7. The visa and legalization process may take approximately 6 weeks. Details are as follows:

7.1 Screening documents for visa application and legalization at the Royal Thai Consulate in Sudan and Djibouti.

5 working days

7.2 Delivering passports, applications and required documents as well as visa and legalization fee for consideration to the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo.

7-10 working days

7.3 Issuing visa for applicants/Legalization of documents.

3 working days

7.4 Delivering passports with visas/legalized documents to the address of an applicant or through representative who is authorized by an applicant.

7-10 working days

In addition, any Sudanese or Djiboutian or foreigners who are residents of Sudan or Djibouti are advised to submit visa application at least six weeks before the date of departure to Thailand in order to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
