On Sunday 14^th April 2019 H.E. Mr. Chainarong Keratiyutwong, the Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, hosted “2019 Songkran Festival” which also known as Thai Traditional New Year's Day at the Residence in Cairo where approximate 100 Thai nationals had attended.

At the event the Thai community participated the traditional ceremonies by pouring scented water onto the Buddha statue as well as onto the Ambassador and revered elders’ hands in order to receive blessings. The Embassy also provided the participants with         a variety of jovial activities namely folk games, Miss Songkran Pageant Contest and Thai folk song singing.

On the same occasion the Ambassador took this pleasant opportunity to deliver best wishes and guidance for harmony as well as appreciation for the Thai community who were attending at the event and also for bringing and sharing Thai food among each other.

The Embassy has annually hosted Songkran Festival for the Thai community in order to preserve the Thai tradition and culture for the next generations and to enhance harmony among the Thai community in Egypt.
