On 12 June 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy led the Egyptian business delegation to a meeting with Ms. Somjai Chutiparo, General Manager (Operation) of the Thai Union Manufacturing Co., Ltd., at the company’s headquarters in Samut Sakorn. The delegation watched a VDO clip on manufacturing process of canned tuna which applies automation and robotic system and put emphasis on freshness, healthiness, and tastiness. Impact on the environment, sustainability, international labour standards, and good corporate governance are taken into great consideration. The delegation also received information related to the company’s manufacturing facilities in Ghana and Seychelles.

In addition, the delegation met with Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer, Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Co., Ltd., at the company’s headquarters in Bangkok to provide information about trade opportunities with Egypt, particularly in the agricultural sector which Egypt is the world’s leading exporter of fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, oranges and potatoes.
