On 13 April 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo organised Songkran Day 2025 for the Thai community and family at the residence of Ambassador. The activities included merit-making ceremony which the Embassy respectfully invited the Buddha image “Phra Phuttha Sirindhorn Theprattan Mongkhon Phuwadon Santi" bestowed upon by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for the Thai community to sprinkle water onto the Buddha image to usher good luck on the occasion of the Thai New Year. Moreover, the Thai community enjoyed a lot of fun activities and games as well as delicious Thai food together.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo annually organised Songkran Day to preserve Thai culture and traditions, which has been included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and to strengthen the unity of Thai community as well as promote good image of Thailand abroad.
