On 17 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand in Egypt, together with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), and Office of the National Security Council presided over the opening ceremony of the "21st Mini Soccer Tournament" at Nasr City Youth Club in Cairo. The tournament will be held between 17 - 27 February 2025 with 45 teams participating in this year's tournament.

Ambassador Thanawat congratulated the Thai Students’ Association in Cairo under the Royal Patronage (TSA) for continuously organising the tournament for over two decades. The attendance of Thai government representatives in this year’s tournament allowed them to witness TSA’s and students’ dedication and determination to organize the event. This sports event encourages the students to use their free time productively by strengthening their physical health as well as promoting unity and sportsmanship among Thai students. In addition, there were food stalls of 46 student clubs offering traditional and contemporary cuisines to Thai and foreign visitors, which helped enhance people-to-people connectivity and promote Thai culinary in Egypt.
