On 27 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador-designate of Thailand to Egypt, presided over the closing ceremony of the "21st Mini Soccer Tournament" at Nasr City Youth Club, which was held from 17 to 27 February 2025 with a total of 45 teams participating.

The Ambassador also competed in a friendly football match between the Embassy and the Thai Students’ Association in Cairo under the Royal Patronage (TSA) in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

During the closing ceremony, Ambassador Thanawat congratulated the winners of various awards and praised the TSA, student clubs, organising committee, referees, volunteers, medical students as well as all those involved for their hard work and contribution leading to a successful event. Ambassador Thanawat also wished students good health throughout Ramadan.
