On 19 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Puttaporn Ewtoksan, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, paid a courtesy call on Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam Sheikh of Al-Azhar, to present a financial contribution from the Royal Thai Government to Prof. Dr. Ahmed and express appreciation for taking good care of Thai students.

On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to Al-Azhar University for the scholarship given to Thai students to study in religious and Arabic language faculties as well as non-religious faculties especially Faculty of Medicine. The Ambassador also informed him of the Embassy' activities for Thai students including charitable activity in Cairo and discussed about possibility for Grand Imam to visit Thailand in the future.
